Abstract: In June 29 – July 4, 2014, already the 4th International Symposium “Auxins and Cytokinins in Plant Development … and Interactions with Other Phytohormones” (ACPD 2014) was held in Prague, Czech Republic. These symposia have traditionally provided a platform for presentation of the current state of knowledge and discussion of progressing research on the fascinating cooperative roles of these two major classes of plant hormones in control of plant development and plant responses to environmental factors. The current ACPD Symposium was deliberately given a subtitle “ … and Interactions with Other Phytohormones” reflecting the wide cross-talk not only between auxins and cytokinins but also intensive interrelations with other plant hormones. The 2014 meeting was the most attended one (334 participants from 34 countries) indicating not only a constant increase of scientists and students dealing with plant hormone research but also a rising number of active researchers in the area of plant science. The program consisted of two opening lectures and six sessions including both oral and poster presentations: (1) Biosynthesis and Metabolism, (2) Transport, (3) Signalling, (4) Development, (5) Hormone Cross-talk and (6) Responses to Environment. In general, the ACPD 2014 symposium provided efficient and pleasant platform for presentation of interesting novel data and thoughts which will be helpful for layout of novel strategies in plant hormone research. As always, meeting of interesting people, establishment of personal contacts of scientists, students and other professionals has been valuable profits of the symposium. It was a great opportunity to learn what is new, what to do and also what not to do because of recognition of dead-end routes by others or because other are too far to be competitive.
