Abstract: Tandemly organized DNA repeats constitute a large part of the rye genome. Despite this, little is known about the organization of tandem arrays, total array size, the pattern of monomer distribution within the arrays and juxtaposed sequences. We addressed these issues for telomere associated heterochromatin of individual chromosomes of rye using wheat-rye chromosome addition lines and ryespecific DNA probes.
