Antioxidant, antimicrobial and antisepsis properties of the water-soluble extracts of Myrica rubra leaves

Abstract: The antioxidant of water-soluble extract from the debris of Myrica rubra leaves oil extracts was determined. And thentIle antibacterial activity of petroleum ether, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and n-butanols’ water-soluble extracts of residues from Myrica rubra leaves was measured and analyzed respectively Moreover, anti-corrosion test of extract layer, which displayed obvious antibacterial effect, was evaluated by applying it to thle meat. The results showed that DPPH radical scavenging activity and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity of water-soluble extract gradually elevated up to 80% between 0.1 to 5 mg/mL. The antimicrobial experiment demonstrated that ethyl acetate extracts and n—butanol extracts had a stronger antimicrobial performance and a wider antimicrobial spectrum. However, meat antisepsis effect of ethyl acetate was better than potassium sorbate in the same concentration. And n-butanol extracts have no significant difference with potassium sorbate.
